이 시집은 영어로 쓴 70편의 시가 수록되어 있다. 이 책에서 시인은 상당히 개인적이면서도 살다보면 누구나 마주칠 수 있는 보편적인 주제를 다루고 있다. 어느 순간에는 깊은 고통을 느끼기도 하고, 어느 순간에는 기쁨과 희열을 느끼기도 하는 감정을 형이상학적으로 그려내고 있는데, 이런 모습은 각각의 상황에 따라 매우 감정적인 동시에 지적인 관찰력을 통해 표출되고 있다.
This book has 70 poems. The Poems produce a trilogy dealing metaphysically at times with the area of human relationships one would consider deeply painful at moments, ecstatic at others. Its material is intensely emotional while drawing at the same time sharply intellectual observations on the human condition. Although the poems are deeply personal, they deal with universal themes that will touch everyone who encounters them.
충남대학교 영문과를 졸업한 후, 동대학원에서 석, 박사학위를 받았으며, 캐나다, 뉴질랜드, 영국 등에서 시창작과 영어를 공부했다. 홍익대학교 등 여러 대학에서 강의를 한 후, 인천대학교에서 객원교수로 근무했다. 《시세계》를 통해 시인으로 등단한 후, 다수의 시집을 출간했으며, 미국에서 시인으로 활동했다. 《국제계관시인연합》의 한국 사무국장과 《POETRY KOREA》의 편집자를 역임했으며, 2005년에 계관시인상을 수상했다.
Myung-Ok Yoon studied English at Chungnam National University, took a M.D. and a Ph.D. there with the studies of John Keats poetry in South Korea, and took English and creative writing courses and joined poetry workshops in Canada, England, and New Zealand. She made her literary debut through the poetry review, 《THE WORLD OF POETRY》 and her five poetry books were published in Korean. She also wrote poetry in English and two poetry books and some poems were published in the U.S. She won the Laureate Woman of Letters Award in 2005. She taught English and English literature at Hongik University and Incheon National University and worked on translations. She was a secretary-general of the United Poets Laureate International Korea Committee, editor of the annual anthology of contemporary Korean poetry in English, 《POETRY KOREA》.
